I f’ing love cake. Whatevs, get over it.
So I planned my sister’s 40th surprise b-day party a few weeks ago in Vegas and of course I spent copious amounts of time a) searching for the best bakery in the Las Vegas/ Henderson area, and b) designing the cake & color palette with the baker, amongst other things like choosing the flowers, picking the menu, making the invites, coordinating the surprise with everyone etc etc… But back to cake. I fell deeply head-over-heels with this pink ribbon cake I saw on The Wedding Chicks from marthastewart.com

Right?? It’s just straight pretty. So we copied it.

We had 2 cakes & cupcakes. The pink ribbon one was the strawberries & cream. The other was caramel choc-chip and whatever ever other heavenly stuff they put in there, and the cupcakes where chocolate. Everything made from scratch- the butter cream, caramel etc, This bakery was by far the best quality and most outstanding service and attention to detail in Nevada! I HIGHLY recommend them. Please visit Layers Bakery, and if you don’t need a cake, at the very least go in there and try some of their pastries with your morning coffee… truly divine! All fresh home-made ingredients, and none of the foofy over-animated gaudy-looking stuff. Old-school deliciousness; exactly what I was looking for! Ok, now for the cake porn….

(oh and btw, can you tell how much I love Peonies?) The rest of the flowers are Ranunculus, Wax Flower and Stock.

I LOVE Zooey Deschanel so intensely. When I saw this clever little film/advertisement named Catch A Tuesday on the Veiled Vows blog (one of my favorites), I nearly fell over. The film is made by photographer Autumn de Wilde and also stars Matt Costa. This is the best ad campaign I have ever seen & I love Oliver Peoples now. Oh, and Zooey rules.

Peonies & Polaroids & I are both sickly obsessed with gorgeous shoes. We must have sent at least 10 emails to each other discussing last week’s “favorite things” shoes. And just when I thought nothing could top those… she posted THESE… There is nothing. More perfect. Than these shoes. I repeat. Nothing.

What the hell? Why aren’t these mine? The worst thing about it is that they would have been perfect with my wedding dress…! Here are some pics of my dress below. I designed it and had the amazingly talented Elena Ham create it. She’s a sweet little Russian lady that works out of her home here in La Mesa. Her background is in theater costumes & bridal gowns. Anyway here is a glimpse at my dress. I will post more photos of my dress and my wedding very soon. But honestly- those shoes were meant for my dress, weren’t they?

First of all. I found this Monique Lhuillier dress on Style Me Pretty that was custom designed by the bride. I happen to be one of those brides that opted for a different color dress on her wedding day, so I am obsessed with wedding dresses that are not white, but instead are colored in delicate, feminine, vintage hues. The bride’s name is Amye, and the photographer is Lisa Pyden from Beach House Bride.


Then there’s Heather Smith Jones‘ original art on Etsy.com. Her watercolors are absolutely to die for. She creates with mixed media and makes some of the sweetest one-of-a-kind art pieces.

Boring Sydney makes beautiful things. Specifically, beautiful things that are placed upon your noggin. If you love love love vintage and you are looking for unique & unusual headpieces, headdresses, or hats, you simply must check out some of her stunning work. Everyone knows how tedious it can be to pick out music for your wedding day, don’t you wish there was some kind of robot that would do it for you? Well, now there is! Tiny Mix Tapes has an Automatic Mix Tapes Generator… Just put in your name and make up a “theme” based on the mood you want the music to be influenced by, and poof! There you have it! Hilarious are the titles for the mix tapes that some people have come up with, like: “I had to remake all of my childhood memories so you could be real” and “Yes, it was me.
