I have been following Noa for a while via her blog and Facebook, and consider her to be an incomparable trailblazer for those of us yearning to literally follow our visions: she says, ” Artistically, I like recreating the feeling of nostalgia, memories, dreams.” In the world of professional wedding photography where there seems to be an unspoken standard for imagery, she’s had the nerve to strike out on her own path, “[When I started], my portfolio was 95% safe. Over a period of time it hit me: what if I only showed the stuff that I like? What’s the worst I have to lose? Then, everything changed.” Indeed, when I decided to start my own photography business after shooting for a studio in Santa Cruz (shooting in their style), I began to reevaluate everything about myself as a photographer. Last summer I began poring over blogs like Green Wedding Shoes, clicking links to seemingly successful wedding photographers and seeing the same thing over and over. It was beautiful, but it was the same. Then somehow I stumbled upon Feather Love. As I was looking at her portfolio, I began to feel extremely excited. I thought to myself, this is what it looks like when a photographer puts up their favorite stuff, not just what they think other people will like, or the acceptable trend at the moment. Wow, what a concept, what a RUSH! All at once freeing, but terrifying and exhilarating. On top of that, seeing the incredible success that Noa has been rewarded with is tremendously empowering for those of us wanting to do the same.  Interested in finding your “Inner Freak” in a hands-on setting with Noa? She is offering a workshop at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs on May 16th and 17th in collaboration with Bash, Please.
